Junior Board

Nancy Shapiro brings a diverse background in sales, marketing, management, and public speaking, with career experience spanning advertising, wellness, entertainment, and real estate. She spent eight years in magazine publishing with YM and Mademoiselle, founded and sold a corporate wellness company, co-owned Sibling Rivalry Entertainment with her siblings, and worked for 15 years as a commercial real estate broker. Most recently, she served as a consultant to the Board of Directors and Executive Director of Step Up for Better Living, supporting families transitioning into permanent housing. Five years ago, Nancy shifted her focus to the work she feels most passionate about: organizing and advocating for racial justice. She is currently a Team Lead and facilitator for Calling In Workshops with SURJ (Showing Up for Racial Justice) NYC, serves on SURJ’s Welcome Orientation Team, and volunteers weekly with its Immigration Justice Working Group. She also co-leads two white affinity groups for racial justice. Nancy’s past volunteer work includes serving as a mentor with iMentor, an Alumni Family Ambassador for Manhattan Country School (MCS), and Fundraising Co-Chair at PS 212, MCS, and LREI (Little Red Elisabeth Irwin) High School, where she was active throughout her daughter’s K–12 education.
