Maria Baranova-Suzuki, photographer

Maria Baranova has been working with the Theater and Dance community of New York since 2011. From photographing dress rehearsals and promotional shoots to her own portrait project "Faces of Downtown Scene", which elevates members of the performance community off-stage, Maria completed jobs for Off-Off' Of' and Broadway companies in New York and around the East Coast. Maria graduated from Art School with a BA in Art Painting and later got a degree in Photography, both in Helsinki, Finland. Fluently speaking Russian, Finnish and English helped her to find and complete projects around the world. Her photographs appeared with a variety of reviews in ARTFORUM, American Theatre, Brooklyn Rail, New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, among others. Outside of performance photography, Maria expands her work to still life, medium format film portraits, as well as street photography and darkroom printing.
