Undercurrent explores that which is beyond our control.  Water, which expresses its nature in a relentless way, drives the choreography.  At times, the water transforms into cascading tides.  At other times, a single drop.  Undercurrent premiered at the Ailey Citigroup Theater in June 2009.  It is in four parts: Engulfed, Adrift, Deluge, and Drops and Bubbles.  It is 84 minutes long, includes live music, video projection, and 18 dancers.

Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre/Notes in Motion was awarded a grant in the amount of $30,000 from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) to support the nonprofit arts and culture sector. Through New York State’s continued investment in arts and culture, NYSCA has awarded over $80 million since Spring 2023 to over 1,500 artists and organizations across the state.
