Alex DiCastro is a dance artist from Orlando, Florida. She received her BFA in Dance from Florida State University, where she trained with artists including Peter Chu, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, Gwen Welliver, Ilana Goldman, Kara Wilkes, Suzanne Farrell, Donna Uchizono, Lynda Davis, and Ben Howard. Alex views dance as one of the most innate forms of human communication. Her creative practice is grounded in this belief, using the body as a vehicle for processing, connection, and expression through physicality. Her movement practice extends into writing and film, which shapes her approach to dance-making and documentation. Her dance films have been presented at festivals including the Exeter Dance International Film Festival (United Kingdom), Dance on Screen Film Festival (Austria), and Frame x Frame Film Fest (Texas).

She has worked with arts organizations in several capacities, including as a Performance Journal Editorial Intern at Movement Research, where she engaged deeply with the organization’s archives and the history of the New York dance scene, and as a Festival Services Work-Study Scholar at the American Dance Festival. Alex currently works as a freelance dancer and choreographer in New York, where she has performed at Battery Dance Festival, Center for Performance Research, Arts on Site, and the Mark O'Donnell Theater. She is also a member of Moving Visions Dance.
